Hummus with Fried Halloumi

A vegetarian twist on the classic Hummus Bil Lahme, featuring golden-fried Halloumi in place of spiced meat!
This modern mezze dish delivers the same indulgent richness and layered textures as the original, with crispy Halloumi offering a satisfying, savoury bite. Ideal for vegetarian menus or as a creative small plate, it is a versatile option that delivers Eastern Mediterranean comfort with a contemporary edge.

Ingredients

  • 150 g of your restaurant’s hummus or high-quality ready-made hummus

  • 200 g Halloumi cheese, cut into small cubes

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 tbsp. pine nuts

  • 2 tbsp. olive oil

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

  2. Add the Halloumi cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides.
  3. Stir in the pine nuts and cook for 1–2 minutes, until lightly toasted.
  4. To assemble the dish, spread approximately 150 g of the hummus in a shallow serving dish.
  5. Spoon the fried Halloumi, onions, and pine nuts over the hummus.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve immediately.
