Swiss Flying Dutchman Burger

Inspired by a viral social media trend, this bold, cheese-stacked burger puts a gourmet twist on the Flying Dutchman. Featuring layers of Swiss cheese slices, sautéed mushrooms, grilled red onion, and a juicy beef patty on a toasted pretzel bun, it delivers rich flavour and visual impact. A standout option for menus looking to capitalize on trending, craveable comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 115 g Ground Beef

  • Salt and freshly ground Black Pepper, to taste

  • 1 thick slice Red Onion (about 1 cm thick)
    4 slices Swiss Cheese

  • 60 g Sautéed Mushrooms (sautéed in 1 tsp butter)

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tbsp Mayonnaise

  • 1 Pretzel Bun, halved and toasted

Directions

  1. Season ground beef with salt and pepper, form into one patty, and cook on a hot grill or skillet until fully cooked and nicely seared.
  2. Sauté mushrooms in butter until tender and lightly browned.
  3. Grill the red onion slice until tender with visible grill marks.
  4. Place the bottom half of the pretzel bun on a plate.
  5. Spread Dijon mustard and mayonnaise on the top bun half.
  6. Place the cooked beef patty on the bottom bun.
  7. Add two slices of Swiss cheese over the patty.
  8. Top with sautéed mushrooms.
  9. Add the remaining two slices of Swiss cheese.
  10. Place the grilled red onion slice on top.
  11. Gently rest the top bun at an angle, allowing the onion to remain partially visible for presentation.
